Ex-Forces and NTAR

Get your second career on the right track with NTAR

As an armed forces leaver, we know the thought of forging an entirely new career path can seem daunting, but we’re here to help. Your experience and knowledge is valued by us and the UK’s rail industry. You might not immediately see the links between your role in the military and a career within The Railway, but we do: your skills. The skills and attributes you learnt in your former career are entirely transferable to our industry.

We work closely with the Career Transition Partnership who provide advice and help to members of the military who are looking to switch careers. With this collaboration we can improve our courses and what we do outside of teaching which can help you on your career journey. You can find out more about CTP by visiting https://www.ctp.org.uk/.

We have worked in partnership with EAL - the specialist, employer-recognised awarding organisation for engineering, manufacturing, building services and related sectors – to develop training courses that will open the door to your exciting next profession. The qualifications are accredited at Level 3, which is a combination of theoretical and practical training.

Oliver Holmes is our expert trainer who took the lead on all of Career Transition Partnership courses which train and prepare ex-forces members on their rail industry career journey. Oliver believes in creating an engaging, informative learning environment for a better learning experience.

Our courses and qualifications for ex-forces personnel are:

  • EAL Level 3 Certificate in Traction and Rolling Stock systems

  • EAL Level 3 Award in Telecom Fibre and Copper

All courses and qualifications are held at our multi-million pound, cutting-edge training facility in Northampton and are delivered by expert tutors who have years of experience within rail. To find out more about each of the qualifications, what they cover, the requirements and where they could lead you to click here.

If you are interested in applying for the Traction and Rolling Stock Level 3 qualification, please contact your resettlement officer, and for the Copper and Fibre qualification, please contact NTAR.

We look forward to welcoming you aboard.
