Rail Engineering Apprenticeship | Traction and Rolling Stock | Level 3 | Technician
This apprenticeship programme is designed to enable learners to develop and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for their immediate job and their future career- achieving occupational and professional competence as a Rail Engineering Technician.
Our 2018 Rail Engineering Apprenticeships have 3 Pathways: Traction and Rolling Stock, Electrification and Telecoms.
The programme covers everything from basic engineering hand skills and electrical principles to problem solving and innovation and the commercial principles of The Railway.
Traction and Rolling Stock Pathway
On the Traction and Rolling Stock pathway, learners will develop knowledge of traction systems and passenger comfort, and the skills required to maintain and operate a range of T&RS systems, subsystems, ancillary equipment, and vehicle trim.
Electrification Technician Pathway
New for 2018, learners on the Electrification Pathway will develop knowledge of high and low voltage switchgear power rules and isolation and earthing of AC/DC electrical systems, and the skills required to maintain and operate a range of transformers, battery and inverter systems, and SCADA control systems.
Telecoms Technician Pathway
New for 2018, learners on the Telecomms Pathway will develop knowledge of rail telecoms principles and rail telecoms technologies, and the skills required to install, maintain and operate a range of optical networks and transmission systems.
Employer defined, plus compliance with relevant apprenticeship framework.
