Step into transport – A second career in the Rail industry?
The National Training Academy for Rail (NTAR) is working closely with industry and tri support services to develop a portfolio of training that can lead to a second career in the Rail industry. We will assist you, enabling you to utilise the transferable skills and attributes gained whilst servicing in the armed forces.
NTAR will be showcasing these training opportunities, alongside potential employers, at a series of Open Days starting later this year. Dates and registration details will be available in the near future.

During 2016 NTAR has worked with cohorts of the tri-service personnel to explore career possibilities and arrange work shadowing exercises in the rail industry.
Feedback from the work shadowing exercise was extremely positive; here is a first-hand review.
“I shadowed various team members from various departments across Manufacturing, Test and Quality Assurance. Within the Manufacturing department, I was fascinated to see how the various sections and teams have a vital role to play to ensure the end product is of the highest standard. I found the Test section really appealed to me because my past diagnostic experience in the Armed Forces allowed me to see how I could transfer my skills. Before attending the taster visit, this wouldn’t have been a consideration. I was blown away by how much variety there is across the company and the scope of opportunities and roles on site. Everyone I spoke to was helpful and seemed happy to be there.”
